Corrections Policy
Accuracy and limitations
EngineCode.uk is a reference website operated by Engine Finders UK Ltd. We aim to provide useful, evidence-based information, but mistakes, missing information and conflicting sources can occur. Publication on this site does not by itself mean a specification has been independently verified for every vehicle.
Reporting an error
Use Report a Problem or email corrections@enginecode.uk. Please include the page address, the field or statement concerned, your proposed correction if known, and a relevant source where available.
Reports are welcome even if you do not know the correct answer. You can use the reporting form without giving an email address; we will then be unable to ask follow-up questions or send you a personal response.
Please do not include identity documents, payment details or unrelated personal information. Our Privacy Policy explains how reports and contact details are handled. Correction reports are not engine enquiries or marketing subscriptions.
How we assess reports
We assess the issue, check available evidence and consider whether other records are affected. We prioritise wrong engine or vehicle mappings, safety-relevant specifications, unsupported or non-existent identifiers and other errors likely to cause material misunderstanding.
A report may lead to a correction, a request for evidence, an uncertainty note, removal of an unsupported field, or withdrawal of a record while it is investigated. We do not automatically adopt a submitted correction simply because it is confidently stated.
Making and recording corrections
Where a correction is justified, we check related tables, FAQs, structured data and linked applications, not just the visible sentence. For a material technical correction we update the record’s review date and, where useful, add a short explanation of the change.
We do not publish a reporter's personal details without an appropriate basis and notice. A public correction note can explain an issue without reproducing private correspondence.

October 2026: Comprehensive Database & Hub Reconciliation
Effective Date: 22 October 2026 • Scope: Site-wide technical database & brand hubs
Following a systematic editorial audit against primary vehicle-manufacturer documentation and European Type Approval records, EngineCode.uk has published the following baseline corrections:
- Brand architecture and marque designations: Formally clarified that Range Rover is a vehicle marque rather than an engine manufacturer; powertrain engineering belongs to Land Rover / Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) engine programmes. Unsubstantiated passenger car diesels (e.g. 20-T2N, D-16-A8) have been placed on allocation hold.
- Purge of unevidenced production metrics and timelines: Withdrew historical engine timelines, unreferenced annual production volume numbers, plant allocations, and cross-brand fitment claims (such as false assertions of BMW engine installations in Toyota commercial vehicles).
- Removal of third-party fallback manual links: Eradicated all outdated and unevidenced external workshop manual references across all database entries.
- Identity holds: Designated nine ambiguous or disputed engine designations (including Jaguar 204D3, Land Rover 22D, 24D, P510, and Range Rover Rover-V8-5.0L) as Under review and removed them from verified factory application lists pending primary documentation.
- Specification pruning: Pruned unverified torque curves, speculative replacement intervals, and non-approved performance tuning statements. Only evidenced manufacturer parameters are retained.
Unresolved issues
If you believe a report has been misunderstood, reply with further evidence or use our Complaints Procedure. Copyright and privacy complaints may require a separate process; our Contact page provides the appropriate contacts.
A correction process does not replace vehicle-specific checks before buying parts, fitting an engine or undertaking repairs.
